Costumed Gals

Kyra's post at Little Gajin in the Big City

Above is a link to Kyra's post. She wrote extremely succinctly about our experience together in Japan on a wonderful Saturday afternoon. Kyra lives and works in Japan. She was nice enough to spend the day with me, starting extremely early in the morning afterworking till late at night! I deeply appreciated it! We went to Takarazuka and we got B-seki. The Tachimi in the back were all sold out when we got to the window. But honestly it's pretty modestly priced to get B-seki anyways. Also it was a weekend of the retirement of 4 stars!I liked my seat mates this time. I had Kyra one side and a really excited Japanese girl on my left. I think I could be obsessed with Takarazuka and go to every show if I ever lived there.. Kyra really spun a different side of things. Even living in Japan for many years, her perspective is so uniquely her and hasn't molded to the society around her. Though she is like the perfect size, petite and oh-so delicate, for Japan. I did have to marvel aloud to her about it! Plus she spoke Japanese super well! I'm so jealous! Hehe. We each had a different favorite part. Her favorite was the first story part of the show and mine was the over-the-top dancing & costume at the second part. We also visited both shops. I am still kicking myself for not buying the cd of the show!
We also went to the maid cafe. I'm glad she wanted to go and suggested it, because I had not previously planned to visit one. It made us braver to go together. When we were looking around we had a heck of a time finding one. Pinafore was right in front of the subway/train station
in a little area ringing a smoker's concrete park area. The maids were awful cute and we waited in a mini line to get in. Unfortunately they did smoke in there and the non-smoking was right in the center of the smokers? Weirdness. And we got to see a maid's bloomers and twittered because they were so cute and pink! Our maid Mary wrote on our home rice ( omelet filled with fried rice and chicken bits) with Ketchup and in our lattes with chocolate syrup. Kyra was worried we would be the only females besides the maids in there, but amazingly there was another couple of girls at the table next to us and a male-female couple that came in a little later. Plus the guys were really focused on their favorite maid, so I never felt we were paid any nevermind, even not being Japanese.
An oddity I did notice is the male-female couple, the female was very dominant. She got pictures with the maid, threw a napkin on the floor and made the guy pick it, after telling him a viscious voice to pick it up.Totally dominatrix style! Kyra missed this because her back was to them and I was at the angle to see something odd happening behind her. Not that there aren't such couples in USA too.
We also got a map and looked at a costume book of all the different costumes of the maid cafes. The book was hugely thick and varied. Some look like Japanese style, shrine girl style, long old fashion maide dresses, even more pink frilly style, just amazing. Also we found the area was crawling with maid cafes. We manage to see them pop out of the woodworks when we were walking back. It was a fun time and I loved hanging otu Kyra! Plus she has impeccible style and a great purse.

Ueno Zoo and Tokyo Museum - Rainy

4/23/10
This was the day I went to the Ueno zoo. It is in two sections and quite big. First I walked to the other section, but on the way back I took the little tram. It didn’t cost that much and it was easier on my feet. The Ueno zoo was located in the Ueno park.  So before I got there I was staring all around at the beautiful forest like scenery. They were also having a small area of music and food tents. I wasn’t sure what it was for but I bought Dango, little grilled balls of rice with sweet soy sauce type stuff on it. It was a nice little treat. Also when I went to ask about a Grutt pass at the little information center at the edge of the park across from the train station, the lady talked me out of it. It made a lot of sense. She said the pass was really good if you were going to be there for like a month. In the end she was very right. I found right when I got to Japan that traveling takes a lot of time and walking. So you might not fit in as many activities as you think you can when just looking at a map. Even with a good constitution, you can get severely worn out with all the people about and getting crushed on the train all the time, not to mention a billion steps everywhere! No wonder Japanese women have thin legs. Couple all those steps, walking, and high heeled shoes, they get a high powered work out every day, just leaving their homes.
Anyways back to the zoo. It was lightly raining at the zoo, but a lot of the animals were still out. It appeared mostly the monkeys preferred to huddle inside where it was dry and warm with other monkeys. Most of the birds, besides some freezing flamingos by the mini lake, also were pretty active with one another. There were also many animals in ‘night zones’ that were kept inside so it would be nice and dark for them. My favorite was a strange tiny kangaroo/rabbit animal. It had ears and face like a rabbit, but legs like a kangaroo. Also it stood up right and hopped everywhere. It had a long tail too. It was super cool. They were large though, probably the size of a medium sized dog.  In one area they had meer  cats too! A small family with a burrow. They were quite popular and people took a lot of little cell phone pictures of them. The zoo was pretty well rounded and had a lot of sections with lots of animals. They even had a swamp like place with crocodiles and reptiles and stuff.
I also enjoyed the petting area for the kids. It had friendly mice, baby chicks, and guinea pigs / one bunny. Then in another area which was also petting area away from the kid's petting zoo, it was outside and had goats, chickens, and sheep. You could see baby chick be born through a glass window too there. They name all the goats :)
You’d think the zoo would be all, but since I was in the area and the Tokyo National museum didn’t close till later at night. I went and saw the special exhibit. The actual museum is free, but the special exhibit was kinda expensive, over 1000yen. On the way to the museum I saw an artist watercoloring the beautiful area around the museum.. It was an added bonus. She was very good! How I wish I could just simply sit and watercolor too. I saw the The Lineage of Culture - The Hosokawa Family Eisei Bunko Collection. Basically it showed that samurai were really refined and collected a lot of art. There were watercolors, paintings, calligraphy, letters, stories, armor, and exquisite swords and their hilts with tiny golden carved scenes. Amazing! I also saw a Cezzane , matisse, and Renoir in the collection.  They were the real deal and close enough to touch.  Really great and unexpected. By the time I got through the special exhibit, I briefly looked at some of the regular museum offerings, but got too tired quick. I bought a few museum postcards and called it a day. Back on the train and to the hostel.

Ghibli Museum and Meeting a friend!

4/22/2010
Today was a most perfect day, save the horrible pain in my feet and spine. I think I was unconsciously crouching at times, or it could be my bag dragging on my back.. I couldn’t really tell you the cause. It could be the combination of these things. Anyways I should start from the beginning instead of going backwards.
I woke up earlier than my clock again. It was a good thing because I must have been super draggy. I got out of the hotel just in the nick of time to start my journey. Also the trains were lagging behind today too. I got to the Ghibli Museum just after 10:30am. I think it was possibly 10:35am. I was almost crying to think I missed my window of opportunity, but the lady said it was okay! My ticket was for 10 am. Lucky they give you at least 30 mins window of opportunity.  I also had to que in a line to get my discount ticket for the bus… Sadly enough I threw in a train ticket that I paid too much on in the bin instead of the return stub for my roundtrip ghibli bus ticket.. So weird of me! Anyways it was incredible in there. My favorite is the bird and robot display. I won’t describe it because I don’t want to ruin anything for you. But it’s my favorite. I almost ate at the café there too, but I decided instead to use that for awesome souvenirs. I mean my meal would of cost as much as a figurine and a flip book. So I threw down some cash for ghibli items and ate some mickey d’s for dinner LOL. Yes I bought the 100Yen shake shake chicken, cheese flavor and a pie that had potato and bacon in it. It look just like an apple pie but not sweet.
See here for Ghibli momentos I got! I also sketched inside the museum. Though you couldn’t photograph, I don’t think they thought someone would try to draw things they saw in the museum.  And they didn’t, so I did it. I don’t know if you’ll be able to tell what I drew lol but here goes nothing.

Sketches forthcoming, under a spoiler tag.

Be advised the purikura sample pics are actually MintyMix's Flickr Photo.
On the bus back to the train station, I turned around and tried to gather courage to talk to the girl behind me. She was so awesome. I’m not sure if she’d want her real name here, so I’ll call her Judy. We struck up a conversation and I found out she was from Europe and could speak perfect English. I was very humbled, being that I can’t speak many languages  due to my insufficient memory. She definitely did not have a superior attitude and was so congenial. We decided to strike out together.  We went to Tokyu hands to look around. What a huge store, but we got hungry fast. Judy was very kind and even though she was starved, let me look at the craft section. Sadly I didn’t find my birabira metal strips for my Kanzashi ( Japanese Geisha Hairpins), but I did buy a book on decorative knots which I had looked for many a time in Korea and never found. A cursory glance of the basement said that everything was pretty much fresh prepared meals to take home or restaurants we couldn’t really afford. We struck outside for food. We found double luck. A picture place for teens. Those tiny cute sticker things called purikura? We did two. They were meant for 2 or more people, sheer  fact that you got lots of choices and then afterwards you could both color, stamp, write on the photos for mementos  and then afterwards we got 2 copies. That could be cut with little scissors that were placed at little tables. SO CUTE. I’m going to try and put some on facebook. Also putting up a sample. They aren’t our pictures just for privacy reasons, but just so you can see what Purkikura is. Anyways it was 400yen for each session, that gave you 2 prints for each person of all the photos you took. 12 altogether. Then we went right across the street to  a tiny place that had different foods. You just looked at what number you wanted and just inside was a ticket machine to get what you wanted and pay. We got curry rice. They had free water. So I suggest when looking for purikura, look for an arcade. Ours was above the arcade on the second floor. If you are small you can even rent a costume to wear for the purikura.
We went to find an internet café in Asakusa and indeed found Gera Gera which was manga/internet/more. It was about 290yen for 30mins. Then we braved the cold freezing rain looking about again.  We decided to go for karaoke and we didn’t have to look too far. I recognized the word in Japanese that said Karaoke, underneath that it said “ My pleasure” in English. It had English songs, but the staff did not speak English. We winged it and got to sing for an hour. We decided it was time to get ready to do our stuff. She going on a bus to Osaka and me getting back to my hostel. We were so sad to leave each other! If we go again I would love to go with ‘Judy’ again. She was a highlight in my whole trip. We were very personality compatible! And she is lucky with hostels too LOL. I hope we will travel again together!

Catchup! Ketchup? Catchup!

Okay I still gotta get pictures onto my computer and do some posts, etc. Haven't had the time since all my timed/scheduled activities have been the last few days. Also been coming home by 10pm, so I've been drained with my little dogs woofin. Usually to the point that as soon as I sit down, I've fallen asleep a bit. I have to dredge myself up to take a shower.
Also I had a big scare at Ghibli, I dropped my camera down the circular steps between the roof and other floor, in the rain! I thought I would be camera-less for the rest of the trip! Lucky for me, sony builds a hardy little camera! Or I haven't found what broke. So far, it looks like it is still working and seems only to suffer a dent on the bottom right corner. Ugly dent, but so glad Camera works. Knock on wood.
Well time for another day. See what I had written down for a plan for today.

Takarazuka 1st time! And Sensoju Temple relax after.

4/21/10

Before I sleep I must describe Takarazuka! It is amazing, stupendous, sparkling! I can’t wait to go again. Even if you can’t understand the words, the actions and acting make it all clear. The second half Carnevale was incredible with tons of singing and dancing. I loved it the most as I thought I would! The line to the women’s bathroom was waaaay too long, while mens was pretty much no line. I sat next to the girls I stood next to in line for tickets with. We cried, clapped ( there was audience participation), and laughed. The star’s costumes were extra sparkly. The sparklier, the bigger the star. And the music/singing was moving beyond words! I Was humming Solferino all day. After ticket buying, we saw the stars arriving, with the synchronized fan clubs that kneeled when stars were coming. You could easily get pictures and see the star yourself, as she collected her fan letters and received/gave words of encouragement and adoration. After the show, the crowd was much much bigger as the stars left for home. Oddly enough I think a group of ladies near the door may tell or signal the groups to kneel. Not sure. Also the head fan leaders, were stuffing giant presents into the star’s already full trunk. Not sure who the blue sparkly scarf star is, but I like her the best! She is so handsome <3 I waited through all the stars before and after. Then Shopped in both shops. I liked the selection in Chanter, plus more area to move around. The other one closes shortly after the show. Also when you pick your seat, they have a map you can point to if you are rusty in your Japanese numbers. Seats were crushing on the knees, mostly because your legs are bent slightly back as there is not a whole lot of space for your feet. There is room under your chair for your bag.
If you decided to watch with the fan clubs, the stars arrive and leave, give yourself several hours, as it takes a while for them to come out afterward and arrive. The only ones that really arrive together are the lower cast members. The main stars tend to arrive and leave separately. Also only the main stars’ cars are parked in front of the entrance area. The other lower cast members park around the corner of the building. I always thought they walked, haha. Till one day I was on the other side in the morning and found they actually came in cars and walked around the corner. Also you can often tell a lot of cast members not only from the kneeling of fan clubs, but also they wear big round hats for the girls and ‘guys’ wore cheese cutter hats. It’s good to be taller than the average Japanese female because it was much easier getting video and pictures. Anyways it was wonderful I enjoyed it so much!! I could see myself getting obsessed and buying tickets all the time to go.

Also wanted to add on the spot notes of what went on here's what I wrote: At nine am, the line is all the way down the foyer. Not bad though, considering I thought it'd be around the corner and all. The side walks are much busier as well and people stare at us while we stare at them. Women tend to wear no sneakers and like boots, heels, and nice flats. Also I didn't see a lot of jeans in the morning. I also saw many foreign business men, but now I know it's because a famous hotel is right near the theater! I also decided to splurge on b seki, since I had gotten so early that I was 4th person in line! I had gotten there at 6:30 or 7am. After pointing out my ticket, I watched the stars come in with the fan clubs and went into Chanter across the street to have something to munch since I had no breakfast. I ate at Vie De France bakery in Chanter's basement. I got a Peachbread with cream and peaches inside, plus a jelly like gree tea bun thing and then a bun with hotdogs and fries in it. Think there may have been some brocoli too. I wish we had more cool bakeries like that in the USA where I live. We have normal bakery departments but nothing with fries, green tea, peach buns, etc. This is a similar thing in Korea as well. Great snack/meal when you are really on the go. I also had a green tea latte, that had real powdered Matcha.

Just another add on is that the theater itself is amazing! It's very steep. I wondered if anyone ever rolled right down the steps. The second floor where I was and tachimi is, is actually occupying like 3-4 floor in physical reality. It's just huge! Also some of the costume changes happen on the stage right during the show. They really do some amazing stuff. Plus the stage has openings and moves and has props that move.. and of course there are amazing lit stairs that magically appear. I always miss their appearance!!

On a side note, on the way back to the hostel I hit up Asukasa, Sensoji temple. It was late at night so all the whole arcade that lead from one gate to another were closed up for the night. They painted pictures on the white metal gates of the stores all along the arcade. I took some gorgeous night pictures though with no peeps really even around. And I did my fortune. I got a weak good fortune that said I would get good things but they would always be late. I tied it to little rack the right of the fortune cart. I didn’t do another because I didn’t want to be a cheater, plus I figure the next one would be like the worst fortune or something LOL. It was really cool though anyways. Also I don’t know the story but the the left of the gates when going out, there’s a huge straw sandal?? It was a cute, nice little side trip even though there were no shops. I enjoyed the evening peace and it was so quiet. Unfortunately I was not fast enough to take a picture of a dog that looked like Hachiko who was jogging along side his owner's bike. I stared and made the guy give me a look. I loved the dog though. So cute! I also took pictures of the pagoda. It was either 5 or 7 roofs or what have you. And I sat on some sitting stones near the temple. Definitely something to go see, even if you are too late for the whole hoopla of the day. Glad I went at night, not to be missed.

These dogs are barkin!

Yes you heard that right! That saying means that my feet are totally tired.. so is my back, eyes, arms, legs, and yah every part of my body including my hair. I could barely drag myself back to the hotel. Today I went to Takarazuka ( beautiful ). I will have to tell you about  my experience soon. Right now I am just jelly. A limp piece of seaweed. I just barely took a shower and feel like a human being again. I had almost decided to skip it, because all I could do was doze on the floor and not move. Anyways! I have to say Japan has enough stairs. I think we had this many where I came from, we'd never have to worry about 'going to the gym.' Japan is mega stairmaster!! Anyways I'm just getting silly cause I'm exhausted. I have another long day tomorrow!! Then maybe the day after that, I'll take a kind of relaxing day.. for catchin up on posts.

I'm here! Japan!

I have a heck of a long post coming. I decided not to put it up quite yet cause, honestly I am pooped and ready to rest. I have to wake at 6am so I can get myself roused, dressed, and at the station without getting hopelessly lost in a circle. Plus even if it's more expensive I was going to try the metro.. Who knows.. Anyways, no real pictures yet and I bought my ghibli tickets at the lawson's Combini. And a peach yogurt drink ( i seriously had no idea) which is my first drink in Japan this time. LOL!

Well I'll post later. Gonna hunt up some tissues and call it a night. I'm here!! Oh and  I had some revelations about traveling alone as well. :) Oh and I think walking is really going to be hiking here.. It's tough going! Oh yah I got squished into a train. I was pressed against an older lady who was face into a glass window. I felt bad for her, but she continued talking to her traveling companion some how. People entered zen like state.. LOL.

First day of Japan trip

4/19/10 (Monday in the USA, Tuesday in Japan)
Around 10 hours and so many miles, till Japan. Today started rather early. I woke at 5am right to the sound of my dog clock, woofing “She’ll be coming around the mountain.” I was really tired and slept rather well considering normally I’d be too excited to even think about sleeping. Mainly it was the sheer fact that I haven’t been able to sleep for about 3-4 days due to a low hum of giddiness. It didn’t get me to pack any sooner unfortunately but lucky for me I packed relatively fast this time. I had a few indecisive moments where I couldn’t decide what to leave behind and take. I had to toss out some shirts and pjs, but everything fit nicely into my small roller. I even went through one repack to really get it jammed in there. I do recommend vacuum bags that don’t require a vacuum. You simply roll and squeeze out the air. Pretty nice and useful.  I even have a minor space for souvenirs as well.
I got to the airport in no time, but I think it’s best to make sure you are their earlier than you think you need to be, because I had a small snafu that wasn’t even my fault. Computer error. I almost choked because I felt like the swat was going to pop out and shake me down for all I was worth! Anyways it was fairly smooth after that besides the horrors of LAX which was huge to say the least. Nothing is simply placed, even getting to international terminal is by bus and confusing to find the bus stop. Anyways I met a wonderful lady from Singapore and we glommed onto each other till we were able to get to the International terminal.  It was consoling to find someone who was sympathetic to the cause of being lost in a strange place ( yes LAX is a strange place) and finding it easier to get lost together than alone.
On the bus, an elderly lady that looked almost like my grandmother came on toting gratuitous luggage. She decided not to sit and fielded her large unwieldy bags, unfortunately the bus stopped hard and she tumbled into my lap. I was standing and leaning against the luggage rack. I caught her luckily. Is that fate or what? It made me teary. I miss my grandma. I’m glad I caught her. I felt it was definitely an act of god that I happen to be right there to cushion her fall. Seriously I wanted to hug her because she looked a lot like my grandmother.
Anyways, much later I ended up at my terminal. I got to board nearly first after first class. I chose the two seater in the back online and I’m considering changing my seat if possible. Might not be at this point, but I’m hopeful.  Also my seatmate never showed up, so I had two whole back seats to myself! Can you believe it? I kept seeing really old grouchy guys heading my way and was sure they would sit down next to me, but nope I lucked out! No offense to grouchy looking old guys.  It was one of those things where you try not to be hopeful that you’ll be on your own, in case you jinx yourself! I didn’t stop looking for my seatmate till we had started moving already. It is slightly loud in the back due to ‘engine’ but I took absolutely no notice due to the awesome entertainment system, with latest movies (Asian and Korean), games, news paper, music, etc. A very awesome service. It also offers Korean audio language course! How awesome is that? My first show was “Teddy Bear’s Smile,” a Korean TV show.  Looks good! Probably gonna watch princess and the frog too!  Also a lot of space! I must have had a much older plane when I went to Korea or something. I had to fold myself into living origami to fit into the seat. I hope I get lucky on the way back! I mean just the plane alone and the awesome on board personal screens are enough to make me ecstatic and the seats were heaven! The whole seat reclined! I mean the whole thing, not just the back. And there were cup holders in the tray tables, in case you didn’t want to bring the whole tray out!
My stewardess was so nice and strong as well. She lived some rather large roller bags that really seem they should have been left on ground and ticketed as going under the plane, carry on or not. Anyways, I had dinner or lunch in rather short order right after some peanuts and drinks. I got to eat bibimbop (veggies, meat, with rice to pop in). As well as slightly sweet and spicy pickles. There was also a tube of hot paste, which wasn’t too hot and sesame oil. They also coupled it with hot seaweed soup, which I loooove. And also some fruit for dessert. It was delicious. I got asked twice if I knew how to eat bibimbop. I wonder if Americans tend to go for the salmon or non-ethnic foods. I appreciated their kindness in making sure I didn’t weird myself out if I weren’t familiar with the food. I also got lucky on that because I thought there was onion but it was really white radish. Lucky I tasted it and found out. Ha-ha. I keep saying ‘lucky.’ Unfortunately I don’t think I’m much of a writer, so if I put ‘anyways’ or ‘lucky’ too much, I hope you will understand my newbiness.
Anyways, that’s all for now. I’m going to sprawl across my two seats and enjoy some movies.

Later the same day around 7:30PM
I am pooped. I ran around in the rain, doubling back, trying to find my way to the hotel. I’m thinking they need a photo tour or something on their website. Lucky the information box had info on my hotel. The room was small but heaven sent and there are tons of shelves all over the place in the room. Glad for that. I’m not going to be happy sharing a shower or bathrooms, but I’ll survive I guess. Reminds me of being at camp.  I also got my Ghibli tickets WOOT! I just put in the L number. Then you put in your name and a phone number. A Japanese gentleman wanted to use the machine, so finally he stepped in to help me with the machine. I got as far as the name. He turned me into Mary. Heh. But whatever, I’m going to GHIBLI! Tomorrow I’m going to try to go to Takarazuka at the crack of dawn. Well to get the tickets anyways. Well gonna go see if I need to go buy soap. Already dropped a wad of cash on an umbrella I won’t use at home.

Re: Just a thought!

Exhausted! And no closer to being ready. Seriously I'm very sleep deprived so if my post lack sense that's why. I couldn't sleep due to a low hum of constant excitement. And I'm really tired so it's not such a good combo honestly. Anyways I was going to pack today, but I still didn't. I slept late, washed my laundry ( finally a good thing ), and stupidly scoured the thrift stores for a cute purse to put my stuff in... Okay that sounds insane right? Well I wanted a little purse that was kind of like a minature version of the messanger bag, but only wanted to pay like a dollar or two. It was an unsuccessful venture. But I missed the Goodwill store.. so it's eatting me up to think my bag could be waiting for me at that thrift store. Yes I can obsess over the silliest things. I tend to get like that, where I get into something and take off running with it. Unfortunately I'm not so good in sustaining and finishing things. Like spring cleaning this year, is a draggy thing for sure. I have concluded my home is like the ocean, every time you build a nice sand castle, the tide deposits more sand and strange sea creatures leaving things messier than before.
Tomorrow is it! I better pack! Here I go!

EXCITEMENT

For the last few days, on the surface I’ve been kind of calm and partially organized.. but in reality I was up at 7:30AM ( VERY ODD for me!!) and bustling about. You might think that I was packing and repacking for my trip, it’s only few days away at this point.. Instead.. no. I am doing random things like laundry, cleaning, paying bills, washing dishes, etc. Am I insane or what. I realized when I was ferreting my vacuum bags up that OMG I NEED TO PACK! Or get to some semblance of packing!! Tomorrow, I’m starting laundry for items that need to go in the bag and yah, the actual packing. At this point I’m frantic with the thought of packing! Also the fact that I’m GOING TO JAPAN!! Eeeee!

I know my excitement appeared to wane, but it was mainly because I was all cautious after getting e-stalked that turned into real life stalk! Creepy! Mainly I just don’t want my family and any kiddos to get hurt because I made someone lose it online. ( No I didn’t share my info, just my name was available and that was enough… Yes I called the police and reported… No, I didn’t curse at anyone or try to insult anyone…) Perception is a dangerous thing! Anyways it made me slightly paranoid now, which cut down my blathering a little bit. As you can see it’s making a resurgence due to sheer excitement!

I know I said this before, but really I love the feeling of before a trip! I hope I get to visit Japan again one of these days. I know I haven’t gone yet but I feel like I’ll definitely like it anyways. If you ask.. why? Well I don’t really have an answer for you. Everyone asks me why I’m going. Before I did want t go to visit my aunt and uncle there, but they are vacationing! So I’m just going for myself now.. And I really couldn’t give you some kind of concrete or logical reasoning. Also I realize I’m not really an otaku. I don’t read a fraction of the manga ( though I think I’d read more regularly if they had a manga lending library or I made more money ) and I’m not up on anime very much at all. I do like it, but like any movie or show, I have to be interested in the subject/story. And I tend not to be able to hang around for 200 episodes or anything. So I’m going to be a tourist, to kick the dirt off my heels and trade it for the soft moist air of Japan. To not be able to effectively communicate or read signs. To the excitement of travel, a new culture, a different pace of life… and maybe a little bit of magic in the air. Shinto has always excited me and thinking about the cute Tanuki that could be tricking a person at any given moment with their special mythical magic. Anyways that all still equals, no real answer to that question. Why do you want to go? Or why did you want to go the first time around? Unfortunately I think no one reads my blog.. so it’s rhetorical at this point. But I welcome your comments of why you want to visit Japan ( btw it’s okay to be otaku, as long as you have realistic expectations? ).

Anyways, I will consider this question in the days to come. But I guess you could say I have a deep wanderlust, a need to travel. And Japan was calling me!

Also DUST CLOUD GO AWAY FROM UK AND EUROPE!! I wanna meet an online buddy for Karaoke!! So she needs to be able to fly!!

Have Rain? Make Rainbows!

After the rain.. There will be a rainbow, so they say.. I think it could be true. Had some troubles of late that took me by surprise. But things keep looking up as time goes on. Small worries assault the back of my brain with what ifs and I think about my family being okay.. But new friends and old friends increasingly make everything look a little sunnier, a little brighter each day. I won't go into the details of my problems, I don't want to dreg them up or invite them back into my life just when everything looks better. So here's a picture by Shannon Pifko from Canada, to let you feel what I feel today. I feel lucky every day that I'm alive and I always have since I was a child. Also I had a dream about my long departed dog. He was old, well alive and well lived in my dream. I felt like he was still watching me when I woke up. I didn't wake up to sadness, but a good feeling. It's funny because this happened the day after the really bad day.I love my dog so much, I hope he is living happily in dog heaven. I have to believe there is one for him...

So close!!

The days are counting down!! One more week!!
Next week I have to go to special training for work, see my family at the zoo, and finally start cramming things in my bag! I still need to dig up my little air release bags for packing. So far i dug out my bag from my closet and looked up where a few things are in the area. I'm thinking GRUTT pass will be worth it.. Possibly?

I regret I didn't take enough photos for the few days I went last tiem to visit my aunt. I took pictures of her home and her and the bus trip. I hope that I won't be to shy to take tons of pictures. I just want to be respectful toward people living there, but I just want to unabashedly take a picture of every little thing! Even a stone!! :) Wish me luck. I can't wait!!
